Legendary psychedelic rock star Roky Erickson has died at the age of 71

Roky Erickson - pioneer of the psychedelic rock genre with 13th Floor Elevators - in the 1960s died on Friday in his hometown of Austin, Texas at the age of 71.

He was the lead vocalist and principal songwriter for the psychedelic band the 13th Floor Elevators and one of the leading lights of Texas rock.
