An Ohio police officer killed in the line of duty on Fourth of July had one last message for his loved ones: “Tell my family I loved them”.

An intoxicated man holding a beer shot and killed a police officer Saturday in Toledo, Ohio, when he responded to a disturbance call, according to police.

The suspect was later found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
