The death has been announced of American country star Hal Ketchum, best-known for hits such as Small Town Saturday Night and his cover of Mick Hanly's Past the Point of Rescue. He was 67 and had been battling dementia.

Country music singer Hal Ketchum passed away at the age of 67 on Monday night due to complications from dementia, his wife said.

The "Small Town Saturday Night” crooner's death was confirmed by his wife Andrea Ketchum.

Ketchum died of dementia, according to a post to his verified Facebook page Tuesday morning.
