President Donald Trump had made one thing very clear on each day of this 35-day government shutdown: He wouldn't agree to a compromise deal to re-open the government unless it contained money allocated for the construction of his border wall.

Conceding at least short-term defeat, U.S. president announced Friday that he had agreed with Democrats to sign a bill to fund the U.S. federal government for three weeks, until Feb. 15, without getting any wall funding in return.

The announcement comes on the 35th day of the partial government shutdown.
