The 445lb alligator was trapped by a hunter from Ravenel, outside Charleston, and had five dog tags inside

The owner of a butcher and taxidermy shop in Ravenel, South Carolina, said his team recently discovered five dog tags and several other items inside the belly of a 12-foot alligator.

A South Carolina hunter got the shock of his life when he killed a monster “nuisance gator” along the Edisto River in the alligator-laden ACE Basin estuary in Beaufort, Colleton and Charleston counties.

The 12-foot-long Ravenal gator had also reportedly swallowed turtle shells, a shell casing and a spark plug.

Flags are flown at half-mast, books of condolence are opened and a solemn mood abides
