NES and SNES creator Masayuki Uemura dies at 78 - Polygon

Masayuki Uemura, the lead architect of Nintendo’s home first home consoles (the NES and SNES), has died at the age of 78. After retiring in 2004, Uemura worked as a video game professor at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan.
