Barr taps U.S. attorney John Durham to investigate Russia probe's origins.

Republicans cheered the news that the Justice Department has named a new investigator to probe the origins of the FBI's anti-Trump investigations in 2016, even as the scope of the probe expands to include intelligence agencies.

U.S. Attorney John Durham has been tasked with investigating the investigators — just like the DOJ inspector general and U.S. Attorney John Huber.

Attorney General William Barr has appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham to examine the origins of the Russia investigation and determine if intelligence collection involving the Trump campaign was "lawful and appropriate."
