Mexican soldiers found Ovidio Guzmán López but were apparently outgunned in a battle that spilled onto the city's streets.

Security forces came under attack and were forced to withdraw after they sought to arrest Ovidio Guzmán López, who is thought to control the Sinaloa cartel since his father's arrest in 2014.

An intense gunfight with heavy weapons and burning vehicles blocking roads paralyzed the capital of Mexico's Sinaloa state Thursday.
